Sweden is a very secular nation in practice, but the many church buildings across the country bear witness to a long historical presence of the Christian faith. About 58% of the population in Sweden are members of the Church of Sweden (Svenska Kyrkan), which is Lutheran, although only a small number of its members regularly attend Sunday services. There are also a number of evangelical free churches in Sweden, and around 160 000 registered Catholics. The Muslim community makes up Sweden's second largest religious group.
